With Shaolin Kempo Karate we teach more than punching and kicking. We make staying active fun and engaging for our students. But they also learn about personal safety, focus and responsibility. We use the martial arts to teach character. And that all starts with the three rules.
The three rules of the school are Self Discipline, Respect, and Self Control. Self Discipline is doing the things you know you should do, when you are supposed to, without being told. Respect is treating others the way you would like to be treated. Self control is controlling your behavior to fit the situation you are in.
We reinforce the rules during class to help our students learn how they work and encouraging them to think of examples of using the rules at home or at school. The goal is to teach our students to be ready and capable whether that’s in dealing with bullies or just learning responsibility. Participation and involvement are an important part of class. There isn’t a bench to sit, every class, everyone is included. Punching drills to work on focus and fine motor skills. Kicks for balance and co-ordination. Blocking to develop power.
Each class includes games that let the kids have fun while they’re working on agility. These games are designed to incorporate running, changing direction, keeping balance, and being aware. Did we mention they’re fun? Martial Arts has no off season. The balance, agility, and co-ordination are all excellent for off season training. No matter the sport, martial arts is good cross training. We have experience with any experience level, a wide range of ages, and even most developmental disabilities.
We’d love to have you try a class with us.
Feel free to call us.
